No matter where you are in your non-profit leadership journey, these masterminds are not just about solving organizational problems, but also about developing you as a person. They are not about giving you ‘the answers’ – because right now, ‘the answers’ don’t work.

“Through dynamic reflective practice, I was able to determine who I was or want to be as a leader. There is no cookie cutter or one size fits all and this course helps to unravel the variances of leadership.”

- JEAN

There are many prescriptive approaches to leadership (so many books) but we live in times of unprecedented uncertainty, where scripts of any kind fall apart under pressure. Developing our own abilities as leaders, and ourselves as individuals, is the only way to navigate the unexpected and the increasingly complex with flexibility and mastery.

These programs are highly conversational, topics are determined by the participants who join the group, collaboratively. It’s guarded time to develop yourself as a leader, and a chance to bring your most immediate challenges (and big-picture ideas) to the group for solutions and expansion.

Feel free to read on for more details, but if you’ve heard enough, the next step is to…

HOW THIS WORKS

We meet once every two weeks via Zoom for 90-minutes, meeting times in MST.

Masterminds only work when every person in the group can benefit from the knowledge, expertise and experience of the others, in a setting that is safe and friendly.

For that reason, groups will be hand-selected based on compatibility and potential for maximum mutual benefit. And, we will co-create how we want to work together in the first session, to ensure that everyone gets what they need from the experience.

Before you register, we will have a 30-minute Zoom coffee to find out if it’s a mutual fit and what you are most interested in taking away from, and bringing to, the experience.

Within each small group (typically 6-12 participants) 8-session (weekly or bi-weekly) masterminds explore topics related to leadership best-practices and emergent-practices. We focus on specific application of leadership within the non profit context.

While we do explore specific models, tools and approaches, there is a strong focus on intangible skills, to develop comfort and agility in leadership within complexity and uncertainty.

“Nic does a skillful job balancing conversation, reflections and teaching new content. I am so appreciative of the focus on trauma informed leadership and the many tools he provided. I have encouraged others to take this mastermind!”

– JASMINE

This is about developing you as a leader rather than about giving answers. We also orient this learning towards a small community so that we can learn from each other, within the safe and courageous space we co-create.

While the three masterminds are built to serve individuals at different levels of established hierarchy, at each level we will likely explore shared leadership approaches, leveraging non-hierarchy, and becoming more skilled at empowerment, democratic and consensus processes.

These are valuable tools for working within complexity -- which typically requires gathering and making sense of the many stakeholder voices.

“Discussions, getting to learn from others, material and activities that I can go back to and use, reflect on.”

– MARIE

Content will be highly adaptive to fit participants, but we may explore the following topics:

  • Building trust in teams

  • Becoming more comfortable with conflict and using conflict generatively

  • Designing healthy communication agreements with your team, coworkers and supervisor

  • Leading when there is a lack of clarity and high complexity

  • Systems and organizational thinking for greater agility

  • Navigating the mindset and skill set shifts of moving into new leadership roles

  • Isolation and community building in leadership

  • Building and growing highly engaged team(s)

In addition to exploring content and leadership frameworks, we also explore participants' real-world situations, and leverage the mind of the group in exploring ways forward.

“I will take away the value of knowing my comfort zone in leadership and learning to do reflective practice on myself to help push myself to be a well rounded leader.”

– BREE

WAIT! Before you jump in, be mindful about making this investment. This isn’t for everyone.

This is for you if...

  • You love to explore and learn in a community of non-profit leaders who are at your level and share your struggles.

  • You appreciate quality and competence, but you value realness over things being perfectly polished.

  • You want to explore new ways of looking at things, while also uncovering your own wisdom as a leader (sharing that gift with others).

  • You’re seen as a leader within your organization; you may feel isolated or frustrated, uncertain about how to develop yourself, your team or your organization.

  • You are open to exploring how you show up as a leader.

This is NOT for you if…

  • You want to sit back and watch as others teach you about leadership.

  • You want immediately actionable, implementable step-by-step how-to’s.

  • You’re looking for someone else to give you answers, gravitate more towards one on one settings and want pre-ordained deliverable learning outcomes.

  • You are a Type A, high-achieving, results-oriented CEO or Founder who loves structure and tangible results.

  • You’re super detail-oriented, rigid and want to see the syllabus in advance.

  • You’re dedicated to upholding the status quo or are not open to other perspectives.
